As summer gently winds down and we start looking forward to the cozy warmth of the holiday season, I can’t help but get excited about creating cards that capture the joy and sweetness of baking. Whether it’s the smell of freshly baked cookies wafting through the kitchen or the sight of a beautifully decorated dessert, baking has a way of bringing people together. That’s why I’m thrilled to share with you a card I made using the delightful Baking Spirits Bright Stamp Set and Baked With Love Dies from Pajama Crafter Stamps’ August 2024 release. These products are perfect for capturing that homemade, heartwarming spirit in a fun and creative way.
Baking Spirits Bright Card:
A Sweet Start with Baking Spirits Bright
The Baking Spirits Bright Stamp Set immediately caught my eye because it’s just so darn cute! The set is filled with adorable cookie images, from gingerbread men to sugar cookies, all begging to be colored and added to your card projects. I knew I wanted to create a card that felt like you were peeking into a holiday kitchen, with all the deliciousness laid out on a baking tray.
For this card, I started by stamping all those sweet cookie images in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. This ink is a go-to for me because it works beautifully with alcohol markers, which I used for coloring. Speaking of markers, I reached for my Ohuhu Oahu Markers. If you haven’t tried these yet, I highly recommend them—they provide vibrant color and smooth blending, perfect for giving life to those little cookies.
One thing I love about this stamp set is the variety of cookies you can create. You can really get creative with your color choices, making each cookie unique. A little tip here: Don’t be afraid to experiment with non-traditional cookie colors. After all, it’s your card, and it’s always fun to play outside the lines.
Adding Dimension with Baked With Love Dies
Now, let’s talk about the Baked With Love Dies. I wanted to create a scene that felt like a snapshot from a bustling kitchen, so I knew I needed to add some dimension to my card. The baking sheet die was perfect for this. I used silver foiled cardstock to give it a realistic, metallic look. It’s little details like this that can really elevate your card and make it stand out.
One of my favorite parts of this project was playing with the different elements in the die set. I cut out a few extra utensils—a spatula, some measuring spoons, and mixing bowls—from kraft and pink cardstock to give the scene a touch of whimsy. Here’s a little trick: For an extra bit of realism, I added some ink shading to the edges of the bowls and wooden spoons. It’s a small step, but it adds so much depth and makes the die cuts pop.
I also couldn’t resist adding a bit of glitter to one of the spoons. I used a dab of Pearl White Stencil Butter and sprinkled on some Rock Candy Glitter while it was still wet. It gives the card a touch of sparkle, like sugar dusting the kitchen counter. And if you’re like me, you can never have too much sparkle!
Creating the Perfect Background
To tie everything together, I created a background that felt warm and cozy, just like a kitchen ready for holiday baking. I used the Roll With It 6 x 6 Pattern Paper Pad from Carta Bella. The patterns in this pad are perfect for creating a homey feel. I chose two patterns one with yellow gingham (a design that reminded me of a classic kitchen tablecloth) and one with oven mittens on it.
For the card base, I wanted something sturdy and warm-toned, so I used Neenah Desert Storm 100 lbs Cardstock. It’s a great choice for when you want a neutral base that isn’t too stark. I layered the patterned paper onto pink cardstock to add a pop of color and give the design some structure.
Once the background was set, I adhered the baking tray to the center using Instant Dimensional Foam Tape. This step really makes the tray stand out, giving the card that extra bit of dimension. It almost feels like you could reach out and grab one of those cookies!
Finishing Touches That Shine
No card is complete without a few finishing touches. For this card, I decided to keep the sentiment simple yet heartfelt. I stamped a sentiment from the Baking Spirits Bright Stamp Set in Rich Cocoa Ink onto a scrap of the pink cardstock. I love how the brown ink complements the warm tones of the card while still standing out.
To finish things off, I sprinkled a few Tickled Pink Rhinestones around the card. They add just the right amount of sparkle without overwhelming the design. And, of course, I couldn’t resist adding some white gel pen highlights to the cookies and die cuts that weren’t foiled. These highlights give the images a bit more dimension and make them look even more polished.
Final Thoughts
I hope this card inspires you to get into the holiday spirit a little early this year. There’s something so satisfying about combining baking and crafting—two of my favorite things! The Baking Spirits Bright Stamp Set and Baked With Love Dies are such a joy to work with, and they really capture the magic of holiday baking.
