Camping Because Therapy is Expensive:
Finding Joy in Crafting and Nature
There’s something magical about combining our love for crafting with the beauty of nature. I’ve always been fascinated by the serene vibes of camping—just picture a cozy campfire, pine trees, and the open sky. While I'm more of a "glamper" than a rough-it-in-the-wild kind of camper, the Glamping with Tailette Stamp Set perfectly captures that blend of comfort and adventure.
Pro Tip: When you're crafting a scene like this, imagine your favorite outdoor memories. Whether it's a family camping trip or a quiet walk in the woods, let those feelings guide your creative process.
Crafting the Glamping Scene
For this project, we’re using the delightful Tailette image, sitting peacefully behind some logs, and a set of pine trees to create our outdoor escape. Here’s how I brought this scene to life:
Coloring with Ohuhu Honolulu Brush Markers:
I started by stamping out Tailette and the pine trees. Coloring these images with Ohuhu Honolulu Brush Markers was an absolute joy. Their vibrant colors and smooth blending capabilities really make the images pop. I chose earthy tones for Tailette and rich greens for the trees to reflect the natural surroundings.
Pro Tip: When coloring, use a light touch and build up your colors gradually. This helps to avoid streaks and gives you a richer, more dimensional look. Blending small circular motions can also give you a smoother finish.
Adding Depth with Die-Cuts and Inks
Once the images were colored, I reached for the coordinating Glamping with Tailette Dies. These dies are such a time-saver and ensure precise cuts every time. I love how easy they make it to cut out even the most detailed images.
To create a dreamy sky and lush grass for our scene, I used Distress Oxide Inks. On a circle die cut, I blended Tumbled Glass for the clouds and Twisted Citron with Lucky Clover for the grass. These inks blend like a dream and give such a beautiful, soft look to your background.
Pro Tip: Use a light hand with your blending tool when applying ink. Build the color slowly to avoid harsh lines. And don’t forget to clean your blending tool between colors to keep them vibrant and true.
Layering Patterns and Textures
Choosing the right pattern papers is like picking the perfect outfit—they can make or break your project. For this card, I turned to the Summer Camp 6 x 6 Paper Pad from Carta Bella. The playful patterns and colors are just right for our glamping theme. I layered these papers to create a rich, textured background that complements our stamped images.
I cut out a 3 3/4" x 5" rectangle using the You've Been Framed Dies, along with a couple of additional pieces from the same paper pad. This die set adds such a professional touch, giving clean, crisp edges every time.
Pro Tip: When mixing patterns, try to vary the scale of the designs. Pair larger patterns with smaller ones to create visual interest without overwhelming the eye.
Assembling the Card
Now comes the fun part—putting it all together! I positioned the circle die cut so it aligns perfectly with the rectangle background. This little trick helps tie all the elements together seamlessly. Next, I adhered Tailette and the pine trees using dimensional adhesive squares. These give the card a bit of lift and bring our glamping scene to life.
On the inside of the card, I added a couple of stamped images in Ground Espresso Distress Oxide Ink for a cohesive look that carries the theme throughout.
Finishing Touches and Final Thoughts
With everything in place, I stepped back to admire the scene. It's always amazing to see how a collection of stamps, inks, and paper can transform into a little piece of art that tells a story. Whether you're an outdoor enthusiast or just love a touch of whimsy, this card is sure to bring a smile to anyone's face.
Pro Tip: Before you call it finished, take a moment to check the alignment and adhesive. A little adjustment can make a big difference in the final look of your card.
