Cozy Winter Wishes Scene Card: Video Tutorial

Hello, crafty friends! I don’t know about you, but there’s something magical about winter scenes that instantly warms the heart. Whether it’s snow-covered trees or cheerful snow people, creating a cozy winter card feels like stepping into a little storybook. Today, I’m excited to share a fun and unique design featuring some of my favorite products from Miss Ink Stamps: the Warm Winter Wishes Stamp Set, Scene Builder Treeline Stencil, and Woodgrain Frame Die.

If you’re looking for a card that combines ink blending, a bit of coloring, and just the right amount of sparkle, you’re in for a treat! And don’t worry—I’ve included a video tutorial to guide you through the process.

Cozy Winter Wishes Scene Card:

Bringing the Winter Scene to Life

The heart of this card is the background. It’s where the story begins. I started by masking off the horizon line with some trusty Mint Tape (seriously, if you don’t have a roll of this stuff, grab one—you’ll thank me later!). The Scene Builder Treeline Stencil made creating rows of trees an absolute breeze. I love how versatile this stencil is. By simply shifting it slightly up and over, I was able to create the illusion of a dense, snowy forest.

Pro Tip: When ink blending multiple rows, start with your lightest color and gradually move to darker shades. This adds depth and dimension, making the scene feel more lifelike. For the sky, a light touch of distress oxide ink was all it took to create that soft winter glow.

And let’s not forget the snow! By adding a little shadowing below the horizon line, I was able to give the snow some realistic texture. It’s a small detail that makes a big difference.

The Star of the Show: Snow People

Who doesn’t love a pair of cheerful snow people? The Warm Winter Wishes Stamp Set has the most adorable characters, and I couldn’t resist coloring them with my Spectrum Noir Tri-Blend Brush Markers. These markers make blending so easy, even if you’re just starting out with coloring.

Pro Tip: When fussy cutting images, try leaving a small white border around the edge. It’s much more forgiving if your cuts aren’t perfectly smooth and adds a nice, finished look to your pieces.

Adding the Perfect Frame

Now, let’s talk about the frame. The Woodgrain Frame Die is a must-have in my craft room. I cut it from Kraft cardstock to give the card that rustic, homey vibe, but I didn’t stop there. A quick brush of gold pigment ink over the surface transformed it into something elegant and festive. It’s amazing how a little shimmer can elevate a design!

Using foam adhesive to attach the frame added dimension and made the whole scene pop. I love how it feels like you’re peering into a cozy winter world through a window.

The Finishing Touches

No card is complete without those little extras that make it shine. A few highlights with a white gel pen brought out the details on the snow people, while Stardust Stickles added the perfect icy sparkle to the card. I also scattered a few Cherry Red and Shiny Sage Baubles around the sentiment for a festive touch.

Speaking of the sentiment, I kept it simple with a strip that ties the whole design together. Sometimes less is more, especially when the card itself has so many lovely details.

Pro Tip: When adding embellishments like baubles or sequins, use an odd number and cluster them in small groups. It creates a more natural, balanced look.

Why I Love This Design

This card holds a special place in my heart because it’s like a little snapshot of winter magic. From the soft ink-blended background to the cheerful snow people and that gold-accented frame, every element works together to tell a story. And isn’t that what handmade cards are all about?

I hope this project inspires you to create your own cozy winter scenes. Don’t forget to check out the video tutorial for a closer look at the process—and if you give this design a try, I’d love to see your version!
