Valentine's Day is right around the corner, and there's nothing quite like a handmade card to show someone you care. Today, I'm excited to share three fabulous Valentine's cards that you can create using supplies from your stash. We'll be using the Carousel Camel Stamp Set, XOXO Stamp Set, My Funny Valentine Stamp Set, and the Heartstrings 6 x 8 Pattern Paper Pack. These cards feature fun techniques and vibrant colors, all brought to life with Copic Markers. So, grab a cup of your favorite beverage, and let's dive into some crafty inspiration!
Create AMAZING Valentine's Cards with Supplies from Your Stash!:
Card 1: Simple Color Blocking Technique:
Color blocking is a technique I love because it's both simple and striking. For this card, I stamped the delightful camel from the Carousel Camel Stamp Set onto Neenah Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock using Memento Rich Cocoa Ink. To add a pop of color, I also stamped the camel onto a piece of pink pattern paper from the Heartstrings Pattern Paper Pack. By cutting down the pattern paper and aligning it with the stamped image on the white cardstock, I created a cohesive look that’s visually appealing.
To finish the card, I matted the front onto a piece of coordinating pink cardstock and adhered it to a top-folding A2 card base made from Neenah Desert Storm 100 lbs Cardstock. The sentiment "forever & ever" from the XOXO Stamp Set, stamped in Memento Rich Cocoa Ink, ties everything together. A few rhinestones from the Vintage Love Gem Stickers added the perfect touch of sparkle.
Pro Tip: When layering pattern paper over a stamped image, use a precision trimmer to ensure your edges align perfectly for a clean, professional look.
Card 2: Simple Strip Technique:
Strips of pattern paper can add dynamic interest to any card design. For this card, I stamped the camel in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink on Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 80 lbs Cardstock and colored it with my trusty Copic Markers. I then cut three pieces of pattern paper from the Heartstrings Pattern Paper Pack into 1/2" strips and adhered them to the bottom of the card front.
The bold "XOXO" sentiment, stamped over the pattern paper strips using Versafine Clair Nocturne Ink, makes a statement. Adding dimension with a scrap piece of cardstock behind the card front gives it a polished feel. The floral pattern paper background adds a soft, romantic touch, adhered to a top-folding A2 card base made from Neenah Ultra Thick Cardstock. White gel pen highlights and a few rhinestones from the Vintage Love Gem Stickers complete the design.
Pro Tip: When layering multiple strips of paper, use a grid or ruler to keep your lines straight and evenly spaced.
Card 3: Center Pop Out Card:
Center pop-out cards are always a showstopper! For this one, I chose a pattern paper with a kraft background and white dots from the Heartstrings Pattern Paper Pack. I stamped the "I Love You" sentiment and the camel in Versafine Clair Fallen Leaves Ink, heat embossed them with clear embossing powder, and added a touch of color with brown Copic Markers.
The fun fold element on the inside of the card adds surprise and dimension. Using a piece of coordinating cardstock scored and folded into mountain and valley folds, I created a pop-out effect. Adding pattern paper and a stamped sentiment to the pop-out panels brings the whole design together. The result is a card that's as fun to make as it is to receive!
Pro Tip: When creating fun folds, use a bone folder to ensure crisp, clean folds for a professional finish.
Conclusion:
Valentine's cards are a joy to create, especially when you can use supplies from your stash to craft something truly unique. Whether you're color blocking, playing with strips of pattern paper, or creating interactive elements, these techniques can elevate your card-making game. I hope these ideas inspire you to dive into your stash and create some heartfelt cards for your loved ones this Valentine's Day.
