If you’ve ever found yourself short on time but still really wanting to get a card made—maybe you forgot a birthday (guilty), or maybe you just needed a little creative pick-me-up without the big mess—this one’s for you. Today, I’m sharing a clean and simple design that comes together in just five minutes thanks to the Dream Big Die Set and the Be Mine Stamp Set from Pixi Dust Designs.
I know that sounds too good to be true, but with just a little planning and one easy ink-blended panel, you can make a beautifully layered card without dragging out your entire craft room.
Let me walk you through how this came together—and why this technique might just become your new go-to for quick, thoughtful cardmaking.

Create Fast Cards With Pixi Dust Designs In Just 5 Minutes:
The Power of Prepping: My Secret for Fast Cards
I’ve been making cards for years, and one of the best habits I’ve picked up is keeping a stash of layered die cuts on hand. Sometimes, while I’m watching a movie or catching up on a show, I’ll pull out my die sets and prep a bunch of elements—flowers, butterflies, foliage, backgrounds. I’ll layer them, add foam tape if I’m feeling fancy, and then tuck them into the back of my die set storage pockets. That way, when I need a card now, I can skip straight to the fun part: building a little scene.
That’s exactly what I did for today’s card.

One Ink Blended Panel, Limitless Layers
To create today’s card, I started with a simple ink blended panel using Distress Oxide Inks in Tumbled Glass, Salty Ocean, and Mermaid Lagoon on Neenah Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock. This gave me a dreamy blue gradient that felt soft and clean—perfect for spring or summer-themed cards.
Here’s the time-saving trick: after blending, I flipped the panel over and added an adhesive sheet to the back. Now, once everything was die cut, each piece was already sticky—no liquid glue, no tape runners, no fiddling. It was like working with custom stickers that were perfectly color-coordinated.
Pro Tip: Stick to one color family when you’re creating your blended panel. Not only does it speed things up, but it also gives your card a super cohesive, polished look without having to coordinate lots of inks or papers.

Quick Layering with the Dream Big Die Set
The Dream Big Die Set has this beautiful mix of whimsical elements: butterflies, a sweet little watering can, flowers, and grass. I die cut everything from my inked panel, then started assembling the pieces—again, super easy since they already had adhesive backing.
I love that this set is designed for layering, but it’s not overly complex. You get dimension without the fuss. Even better, the designs are versatile enough that you can use them across seasons just by switching colors.
Simple Grounding, Strong Design
For the card front, I kept things very clean. I used a fresh panel of Neenah 80 lb Solar White and added a soft ink blend in the center using Tumbled Glass—just enough to anchor the design and give it a focal point. A small touch like this makes a huge difference in making your scene feel intentional instead of floating.
Then I stamped the “Thinking of you” sentiment from the Be Mine Stamp Set in Versafine Onyx Black Ink. It’s classic, simple, and heartfelt—and works for just about any occasion.
Pro Tip: If you’re ever unsure where to place a sentiment on a clean and simple card, try the lower third. It draws the eye down and leaves plenty of white space above, giving your design room to breathe.

Finishing the Scene (In a Flash)
I built my scene starting with the watering can and the grass, then tucked the flowers inside. One of the flowers is popped up slightly with foam tape to add dimension, and I love how that simple step adds visual interest. The butterfly is perched playfully above, and that’s it. Done.
All of this took just minutes because the pieces were prepped and ready—and because I worked from a single ink-blended panel, everything matched effortlessly.
A Few Finishing Touches
Once the scene was assembled, I mounted it to a top-folding A2 card base using foam tape for a bit more lift. I couldn’t resist adding just a few white gel pen highlights to the die cuts. It’s such a simple detail, but it adds that little extra sparkle and polish.

Why This Card Style Works So Well
Cards like this one are what I call my “grab-and-go” designs. They’re fast, they’re clean, and they feel thoughtful—without taking hours to complete. That’s a win in my book.
If you’re someone who struggles with finishing a card because you feel like it’s never “done enough,” this style might be just the thing to try. Working with limited colors and focusing on a small scene helps keep your design focused and impactful.
And the best part? These cards are so easy to customize. You can change the ink colors, swap out the sentiment, or mix in different die sets from your stash for a fresh look every time.

Let’s Wrap It Up
I hope this inspires you to pull out those layering dies and start building your own stash of prepped pieces. With just a little prep, you can make clean and simple cards in a matter of minutes—and still get all the joy of creating something handmade and beautiful.
