Easy Easter Card with Caffeinated Critters & Stencils!

Writer: Rick AdkinsRick Adkins

Easter is right around the corner, and I’ve been having so much fun creating spring-themed cards! Today, I’m excited to share a cheerful Easter card featuring the Caffeinated Critters Bundle, Easter Basket Stamp Set, and a mix of gorgeous stencils from The Rabbit Hole Designs. This card came together with a mix of ink blending, dry embossing, and just a touch of dimension — perfect for sending a little Easter cheer.

Easy Easter Card with Caffeinated Critters & Stencils:

Creating a Layered Easter Scene

When I sat down to make this card, I knew I wanted to create a fun layered look with soft pastel tones and lots of texture. I started with the adorable bunny from the Caffeinated Critters Bundle and the Easter basket from the Easter Basket Stamp Set. I stamped them onto a piece of Neenah Solar White 80 lb Cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink — my go-to for coloring with alcohol markers because it doesn’t smudge or bleed.

For coloring, I reached for my OLO Markers and picked colors that would match the Distress Inks I planned on using later. That’s a little tip I’ve found helpful over the years — coordinating your marker and ink colors can make your whole card feel more cohesive.

Adding Texture with Embossing

Next, I wanted to add some texture to the background without overpowering the design. That’s where the Amanda Stencil came in. Did you know you can emboss with your stencils? It’s a technique I love because it adds subtle texture without adding bulk. I ran the stencil through my Platinum 6 Die Cutting Machine with a rubber embossing mat, and the result was a beautifully raised pattern on a piece of Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 80 lb Cardstock.

Pro Tip: If you find that your embossing isn’t as crisp as you’d like, try adding a thin shim of cardstock to increase the pressure.

Ink Blending the Background Panels

To give the card a soft and dreamy background, I prepared two smaller pieces of Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 80 lb Cardstock for ink blending. On the smaller piece, I used the Clouds in My Coffee Stencil with Speckled Egg Distress Ink. This created a soft, cloudy sky that set the scene perfectly for Easter.

For the larger panel, I wanted more color and texture, so I used the Deco Flower Layering Stencil and blended Tattered Rose, Dried Marigold, Scattered Straw, Bundled Sage, and Speckled Egg Distress Inks. This combo of soft corals, yellows, and greens created a fresh spring feel without overwhelming the design.

To help these panels pop, I created mat layers for each one by cutting cardstock 1/8" larger and blending Dusty Concord Distress Ink over them. This little trick helps define the layers and makes the colors stand out.

Building the Card Design

Once all the elements were ready, it was time to put it all together. I started by attaching the embossed background panel to a top-folding A2 card base. Then I added the larger stenciled panel over to the left side of the card and layered the smaller cloud panel on top.

For the focal point, I adhered the colored Easter basket to the right side of the card using a mix of 1mm foam strips and foam squares to create dimension. Then I added the bunny from the Caffeinated Critters Bundle next to the basket using foam squares. I love how the raised elements create depth and make the design feel more dynamic.

Finishing Touches

No card feels complete without a sentiment! I stamped "Easter" and "happy" from the Easter Bunnies Stamp Set onto scraps of Neenah Solar White Cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. I used the coordinating die to cut out the "Easter" and trimmed the "happy" into a little banner. These were added to the top left side of the card using a mix of liquid glue and small foam squares.

To finish things off, I scattered a few Shiny Sage Baubles from Trinity Stamps across the card, starting at the top left corner and working down toward the bottom right. The soft shimmer ties everything together beautifully without taking away from the main design.

Final Thoughts

This card is such a fun mix of texture, dimension, and soft spring colors — perfect for Easter! I love how the layered ink blending and dry embossing add interest without overwhelming the design. Plus, that bunny from the Caffeinated Critters Bundle just makes me smile every time I see it.

If you’re looking to create an Easter card that’s fresh and cheerful, give this mix of stencils, stamps, and ink blending a try. You can easily switch up the colors or swap out the sentiment to create a similar look for other occasions, too!
