Hey friends! Today, I’m sharing a fun and easy friendship card featuring the Neighborhood Bar Stamp Set from Scrappy Boy Stamps. This set has such a playful vibe—it immediately made me think of those fun nights out with friends, full of laughter and good conversation. I wanted to capture that energy in a card that celebrates the kind of friendship that stands the test of time.

I love making friendship cards because they’re so versatile. Whether you want to let someone know you're thinking of them or simply want to send a little encouragement, a well-designed friendship card is always appreciated. And let’s be honest, who wouldn’t love a card featuring a bartender and a waitress with a cheeky sentiment about drinks and friendship?
This card comes together easily with a mix of stamping, coloring, and layering patterned paper. Plus, I’ll share a couple of pro tips along the way to help you get clean, professional results every time.
Easy Friendship Card:
The Stamp Set That Does the Work for You
The Neighborhood Bar Stamp Set is packed with character—literally. The bartender and waitress images are so detailed and expressive, they make it easy to create a focal point without needing much else. I stamped both images, along with the bar sign, onto Neenah Solar White 80 lb Cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.
For the coloring, I reached for my TriBlend Markers. What’s great about TriBlends is that they simplify shading since each marker includes three shades of the same color. It takes the guesswork out of blending, which is perfect when you want consistent results. I chose colors that coordinated with the patterned paper to keep the whole design cohesive.
Pro Tip: When coloring characters, don’t be afraid to use unusual shades to add personality. A hint of pink in the cheeks or a warm gray for shadowing can make the image feel more lifelike.
After coloring, I cut out the images using the coordinating Neighborhood Bar Outline Die Set. Dies like these save so much time and give you a clean, professional cut every time.

Mixing and Matching Pattern Paper
I knew I wanted to play up the playful, slightly retro vibe of the stamp set with bold patterns. The Neighborhood Bar 6 x 6 Pattern Paper Pack includes a mix of drink-themed prints and fun textures, so it was easy to find papers that worked together.
I started with the black background paper with all the different drinks—it makes the perfect base because the dark background helps the other layers pop. I cut it down to 4" x 5 1/4" and attached it to a top-folding A2 card base.
To add contrast, I layered on a strip of the orange background paper with subtle text. Cutting it to 1 1/2" x 5 1/4" and placing it along the left side helps to balance the design without overwhelming it. Then, I added a piece of the purple background paper with the postage stamp drinks—cut to 2" x 4"—for a pop of color and interest.
Pro Tip: When mixing patterned papers, try to vary the scale of the patterns. A bold background works well with smaller, more detailed prints layered on top. It keeps the design from feeling too busy.

Building the Focal Point
For the focal point, I cut a 2 1/2" circle from gray cardstock and a 2 1/4" circle from white cardstock. Layering them together helps ground the stamped images and makes them stand out against the busy background.
I popped up the bartender and waitress images with foam squares inside the circle, adding dimension and a little extra visual weight. Positioning them slightly overlapping makes the scene feel more natural and connected.
The sign fits perfectly above the characters, and I stamped the sentiment, "A Toast to a Friendship that Never Goes Flat", inside the frame using Versafine Onyx Black Ink. The crisp black ink gives a nice contrast against the lighter colors.

Finishing Touches
To finish off the card, I added some simple details that make a big difference. I used a Black Gelly Roll Pen to add life to their eyes—it’s a small touch, but it really makes the characters come to life. Then, I added a few white highlights with a White Gel Pen on the clothing and drinks to create the look of light hitting the surface.
Finally, I added a strip of the black background paper to the inside of the card. It’s a small detail, but it ties everything together when the recipient opens the card.

Why This Card Works
This card works because of the balance between bold patterns and simple coloring. The circle die cuts help create a focal point, while the mix of patterns adds texture and interest without overwhelming the design. The sentiment ties everything together, giving the card a lighthearted but heartfelt feel.
Friendship cards are some of my favorites to make because they don’t need to be tied to a specific occasion. This one is perfect for sending to a friend just to make them smile. And the best part? Once you have the stamp set and coordinating dies, you can create a whole set of cards with different patterns and sentiments.

Final Thoughts
I hope this card inspires you to play around with mixing patterns and creating layered designs. The Neighborhood Bar Stamp Set is so fun to work with, and it’s easy to adjust the colors and patterns to fit any friend’s personality. If you give this project a try, I’d love to hear how it turned out!
