Easy Holiday Gift Tags!

The holiday season will be upon us sooner than you think, and there's nothing quite like a handcrafted touch to make gifts extra special. As a professional card maker, I've always found that creating unique gift tags adds a personal flair that can make any present stand out. Today, I'm excited to share how I crafted some easy holiday gift tags using a delightful mix of products from Pajama Crafter Stamps and Scrapbook.com. Whether you're a seasoned crafter or just starting out, these tips and tricks will help you create beautiful tags that are as fun to make as they are to give.

Inspiration and Supplies:

The idea for these holiday gift tags came to me while rummaging through my craft stash. I stumbled upon the Holly Jolly Stamp Set, Snowflake Inserts Stamp Set, and Christmas Holiday Gift Tags Stamp Set from Pajama Crafter Stamps, and instantly, the creative wheels started turning. The adorable snow people and festive candle were just begging to be featured! To complement the stamps, I chose some vibrant pattern paper from the Merry Pattern Paper Pad by Scrapbook.com. The combination of these elements brought a festive yet cozy vibe, perfect for the holiday season.

For coloring, I used a blend of Ohuhu Brush Markers and Oahu Alcohol Markers. These markers are fantastic for achieving smooth, blended coloring, and the wide range of colors available means there's always a perfect shade for every project. I opted for a non-traditional holiday color palette—think frosty pinks, rich reds, and greens. To finish off the tags, I reached for some Baker's Twine (from my stash) and a touch of sparkle with Tickled Pink Rhinestones, also from Pajama Crafter Stamps.

Creating the Perfect Tag Base

One of my favorite bases for gift tags is Cason XL Watercolor Paper. Not only is it sturdy enough to hold up to a bit of mixed media fun, but it also gives a nice, textured finish. I cut the paper into tag shapes, rounding the corners with my trusty Crop-a-dile Corner Rounder for a softer look. A quick punch with the Crop-a-dile Hole Punch, and I had the perfect canvas for decorating.

Pro Tip: Maximizing Your Stash

Don't hesitate to dig into your scrap stash! I often find that leftover pieces of patterned paper or cardstock are ideal for small projects like gift tags. Not only does it save on materials, but it also helps in creating a cohesive look if you've used the same papers for other holiday crafts.

Stamping and Coloring Delight

The Holly Jolly Stamp Set's snow people are just too cute! I stamped them onto the watercolor paper, along with the candle image from the Christmas Holiday Gift Tags Stamp Set. For the snow people, I wanted to capture that playful winter spirit, so I went with a mix of pinks and whites and on the other set I used blues and white, adding just a hint of blush to their cheeks. The candles, on the other hand, were a great opportunity to play with warm, glowing hues, perfect for that cozy holiday ambiance.

To cut out the images, I used my trusty Cutter Bee scissors for the snow people, ensuring precise cuts around those tiny details. For the candle, I used the coordinating dies, which made quick work of the process.

Pro Tip: Fussy Cutting Tips

When fussy cutting, try moving the paper, not the scissors. This technique gives you more control and helps achieve smoother edges. Also, leave a small border around the image for a more polished look.

Assembling and Finishing Touches

Once the images were colored and cut, it was time to assemble the tags. I used Bearly Arts Glue—my go-to for precision and strength—to adhere the stamped images onto the tag bases. For a bit of dimension, I layered scraps of the Merry Pattern Paper behind the images, creating a lovely backdrop that really made the designs pop.

To complete the tags, I threaded Baker's Twine (from my stash) through the punched holes. It's a simple addition, but it makes a big difference, giving the tags a finished, professional look. And of course, a few Tickled Pink Rhinestones added just the right amount of sparkle.

Story Time: The Joy of Handmade

There's something so satisfying about making your own gift tags. I remember the first time I made handmade tags for Christmas gifts; my family was so delighted with the personal touch. It's moments like these that remind me why I love crafting so much. These tags are not just about decoration—they're a piece of joy and care that you pass on to the recipient.

Conclusion

Creating these easy holiday gift tags was a joyful experience, and I hope this post inspires you to try your hand at making your own. They're perfect for adding that extra special touch to your holiday gifts and can even be a fun project to share with friends or family.
