Hello, friends! I’m so excited to be sharing a new card with you today featuring a few brand-new goodies from the Miss Ink Stamps April 2025 Release. If you love creating playful and unique cards — especially ones that make people smile the moment they open them — you’re going to adore today’s project.

Today’s card is all about using the Beep Boop Bot Stencil - Limited Edition and Space Fighters Mini Die Set - Limited Edition, along with the super versatile Everyday Sentiments Stamp Set. I had so much fun putting this together and can’t wait to show you how you can create something similar without feeling like you need to be a galaxy background expert or a stencil master. Let’s dive in!

Greetings Happy Birthday Card: Beep Boop Bot Stencil Miss Ink Stamps:

A Fun Focal Point with the Beep Boop Bot Stencil

One of the things I absolutely love about using layering stencils is how easy they make it to build complex-looking images without having to color them from scratch. The Beep Boop Bot Stencil is a perfect example.I started by working on my focal point — the robot itself — using Neenah Solar White 80lb Cardstock as my base. I chose four shades of blue ink for some of the layers and three shades of gray ink for others to give the bot a nice cool-toned, industrial look.

Here’s a little pro tip: when you’re working with layered stencils like these, choosing a mix of darker and lighter shades within the same color family really makes the final image pop. You don’t have to reinvent the color wheel — simple, bold contrasts do the trick beautifully.

Once I had my robot fully inked up, I decided to add a tiny bit of texture for extra interest. I grabbed some embossing paste from my stash and added it to the eye portion of the stencil. It’s a small detail, but that little pop of dimension catches the light and really brings the robot to life.

While my bot panel dried, I set it aside and moved onto the background.

Creating a Galaxy Background That's Messy (In the Best Way)

Galaxy backgrounds can feel a little intimidating if you’ve never tried one before, but I promise, this method is beginner-friendly and gives you a beautiful result every time.

I started with another piece of Neenah Solar White 80lb Cardstock and blended Twisted Citron, Villainous Potion, and Black Soot Distress Oxide Inks across the panel. The key here is not to overthink it — a few swirls of color in different spots is all you need. Think of it as finger painting for grown-ups.

After blending, I gave the whole panel a quick mist with my Iridescent Shimmer Spray and then flicked on some white splatters using Picket Fence Distress Spray Stain.

Here’s a little behind-the-scenes: I almost always have a piece of scrap paper on my desk when I'm splattering because, no matter how careful I am, I usually end up with little specks on my glasses or my phone. It’s part of the fun, right?

Once everything was good and dry, the galaxy background looked like it was glowing — perfect for the playful, futuristic vibe I was aiming for.

Die Cut Details with the Space Fighters Mini Die Set

While waiting for everything to dry, I pulled out the Space Fighters Mini Die Set. These dies are small but mighty and add so much character to a card without overwhelming the design.

I used a few scraps of gray and white cardstock from my stash and quickly cut out a couple of spaceships and the space station. To give the die cuts a little more life, I lightly brushed on some leftover gray ink around the edges. This subtle shading only took a few seconds but made a big difference in how dimensional the pieces looked on the card.

Pro tip: Don’t be afraid to use whatever ink is left on your blending brush for shading your die cuts. It saves time, ties your color palette together, and gives a softer, more natural look than grabbing a fresh, full load of ink.

Finishing Touches with the Everyday Sentiments

To tie everything together, I stamped "Greetings" and "Happy Birthday" from the Everyday Sentiments Stamp Set using Versafine Onyx Black Ink onto strips of Neenah Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock.

I love having a good set of basic sentiments on hand. This set is so versatile that you’ll find yourself reaching for it again and again, especially when you want your design to shine but still need a crisp, professional-looking sentiment.

After trimming the strips down to a smaller size, I popped them up with foam tape right over the robot’s head — it felt like he was shouting the greeting into the galaxy, and it made me smile.

Pulling It All Together

Once all the pieces were ready, I used my scissors to carefully cut around the stenciled robot, popping him up with foam tape onto the dry galaxy panel. I tucked the space station and spaceships around the background to give the whole scene a little more depth.

Everything got mounted onto a standard A2 card base (top-folding, of course — my personal favorite for how sturdy they feel), and to finish it off, I added a few quick highlights with a white gel pen. A little shine here and there makes all the difference when you're creating a whimsical, energetic card like this one.

Why This Design Works (and How You Can Make It Your Own)

If you’ve ever felt stuck making birthday cards that feel too "same old, same old," adding a unique focal point like the Beep Boop Bot paired with a bold background can breathe new life into your designs. The best part? You don’t have to be an expert at stenciling or galaxy backgrounds to create something that looks polished and exciting. Let the stencils, dies, and inks do the heavy lifting for you.

Try swapping out the colors, changing up the background blending, or even turning the robot into a shaker element for even more fun variations.
