Letters To Santa Gingerbread Mail Box:

Bringing Gingy to Life

The heart of this project is the Gingy Dress Up Stamp Set. I started by stamping two gingerbread people, a gingerbread house, a hat, scarf, and hair bow onto Neenah Solar White 80 lbs Cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. This cardstock and ink combination is my go-to because it ensures crisp images and smooth coloring.

Coloring these cute gingerbread images was an absolute joy. I used my Spectrum Noir Triblend Brush Markers, pulling from both the Triblend Brush Markers regular set and the Triblend Brush Markers extended set to get a variety of shades and blends. Pro tip: When coloring, use light, even strokes to avoid streaking and layer colors for depth. After coloring, I cut out the images using the coordinating Gingy Dress Up Pixi Cuts. This step makes the images pop and adds a professional touch to your project.

Crafting the Mailbox

Creating the mailbox was a fun and straightforward process with the Mail Box Die Set. I chose Kraft Cardstock for a rustic, holiday feel and cut out all the pieces needed. To add a bit of festive flair, I used candy cane and pink chevron pattern paper from the Gingerbread 6 x 6 Pattern Paper Pad for the mailbox's layering pieces. You'll need two sheets of Kraft Cardstock and two sheets of pattern paper to complete the project.

Before assembling, I ink blended the edges of my Kraft Cardstock pieces using Memento Toffee Crunch and Memento Rich Cocoa Inks. This adds depth and a slightly distressed look, which I adore for holiday projects. If you're new to ink blending, use a Foam Blending Tool for the best results – it allows for a smooth, even application.

Assembling and Decorating

Once all the pieces were prepared, it was time to assemble the mailbox. I did create a step by step video tutorial for you (above). Watching a video can be incredibly helpful for visual learners, and it’s like having a crafty friend guide you through each step.

After the mailbox was assembled, I added the gingerbread people and the gingerbread house to the bottom front of the mailbox. These little characters bring so much personality and charm to the project. I then added the "Letters To Santa" sentiment and a few snowflakes, all cut from Silver Foil Cardstock, to decorate the front. The silver foil adds a touch of sparkle and elegance, perfect for the holiday season.

To give the project a bit of extra dimension, I used the Chocolate Chip Cookies Shaker Bits. These little bits look like real cookies and add such a fun, whimsical touch to the mailbox. Pro tip: Using shaker bits or other small embellishments can bring your project to life and add an interactive element that recipients will love.

Final Touches and Personal Flair

For a final touch, I always like to add a bit of my own personal flair. This could be a sprinkle of glitter, a few sequins, or even a handwritten note. In this case, I added some extra snowflakes around the gingerbread characters and a tiny bit of white gel pen detailing to mimic snow. These little details can make a big difference and make your project truly unique.
