Hello and welcome to my blog; today is NEW release day over at the Rabbit Hole Designs LLC, and we are celebrating with a New Release Blog Hop featuring the Mer-May Release. These cute little mermaids are so adorable in their different poses, I know you will want to collect all three sets. Let's jump into my project for the blog hop shall we.
Mer-May Release:
The Mer-May Release from the Rabbit Hole Designs features three new mermaid themed stamp set along with their coordinating dies. The new sets are as followed; Salty Air 4 x 6 Stamp Set, Salty Air Dies, High Tide 4 x 6 Stamp Set, High Tide Dies, Fin-tastic 4x6 Stamp Set and the Fin-tastic Dies. All of the stamp sets were Illustrated exclusively by Agota Pop for The Rabbit Hole Designs; so you know they all are super cute and fun to color. For the Mer-May Release I worked with the High Tide 4 x 6 Stamp Set, and the High Tide Dies.
For my card I stamped out the mermaid on sitting on the seashell from the High Tide 4 x 6 Stamp Set in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink onto a piece of Neenah Solar White Cardstock; and colored her using my Ohuhu Brush Markers. I decided to color her with red hair and a green tail today, I guess I was feeling a little Airel from the Little Mermaid vide when I sat down to color her up.
For the background panel I used my You've Been Framed Dies (which are my favorite die set from the Rabbit Hole Designs) to cut a panel of Neenah Solar White Cardstock down for my card front before I did the ink blending. Once I had the card front cut out I then placed the "sun ray" die from You've Been Framed Dies where I wanted the sun to be raising (or setting from the horizon line) and ran it back through my die cutting machine. Once I had this part cut I then used some low tack tape and placed it right next to the last two cut lines the "sun ray" die made on my cardstock. I added the low tack tape above the lines first and ink blended the water with Distress Oxide Inks (you can see a full list of the inks I used in the Materials Used section at the bottom of this post) and created a gradient of teals and blues. I let that ink dry and then replaced the low tack tape below the horizon line and ink blended my sky. By the way I did all my ink blending with my CottonTail Blending Brushes. I like to have a set of these fabulous blending brushes on hand for both my dye inks and a set for oxide inks.
Next I flicked on some Perfect Pearls in gold and white mixed with a little bit of water onto the background panel to add to the magical feel of the card. I placed the card front onto a piece of Neenah Solar White Cardstock that I had ink blended a little Black Soot Distress Oxide Inks around the edges so that it would match my card before I attached the card front. I then added my little mermaid sitting on her shell with some foam tape to the center of the card front, along with adding a sentiment I stamped with my Versafine Clair Nocturne Ink and cut out with one of the banner dies from the You've Been Framed Dies Set. I then placed the card base on a standard A2 card base cut from Neenah Solar White Ultra Thick Cardstock.
On the inside of my card I added the lighthouse and some additional rocks that I stamped and colored from the High Tide 4 x 6 Stamp Set for a little extra interest. There is still plenty of room with the stamped and die cut images to write a personal message.
To finish off my card I added a few of the Clear Sparkle Enamel Dots just sprinkled around the mermaid and added a little Stardust Stickles to her as well. I mainly added the Stardust Stickles to the pearls on her neckless and around the seashell and a little bit to the stars in her hair.

Wow Rick! You have so many cool techniques and elements to your card. I like how bright and happy the colors are. It just makes me smile. I love how you put the lighthouse inside. It's like the recipient is getting 2 cards in 1. I can't wait to see what you make next. Bo Gilmore tinagilmore86@gmail.com
