Panda Hugs On Wheels! Create A Sweet Food Cart Card | Video Tutorial | Pixi Dust Designs

Scene cards can feel a little intimidating, right? All those layers, stamped images, and little details… it’s easy to think you need a whole blueprint just to get started. But here’s the good news: when you have a plan and the right tools, creating a fun, detailed scene card can actually be a breeze—and a lot of fun too.

That’s what today’s card is all about! I wanted to build a cute, dimensional little world using several coordinating products from Pixi Dust Designs—and let me tell you, they worked together so beautifully, I couldn’t stop smiling as it all came together. This is one of those designs that looks complex but comes together quickly, especially if you love building scenes with dies and a few well-placed stamped images.

Create A Sweet Food Cart Card:

The Tools That Made It Easy

I used the following Pixi Dust Designs goodies to build this sweet little “Panda Food Cart” scene:

When products are designed to coordinate, it really simplifies the creative process. Everything from scale to style flows together, which makes it easier to focus on having fun with your layout and coloring instead of second-guessing your choices.

I especially love how the Food Cart Die Set creates an instant focal point. It’s charming, dimensional, and totally customizable—you can dress it up in so many different color palettes depending on the look you want. For this card, I went with a soft pastel vibe using textured cardstock to give it a warm, handmade feel.

Why This Layout Just Works

This card design comes together quickly and gives you lots of visual interest without becoming overwhelming. Here’s why it works so well:

1. Die Cuts Do the Heavy Lifting: The Food Cart Die Set includes all the pieces you need to build a standout element on your card without needing extra embellishment. I used Kraft Cardstock for the cart base, then added layers of pastel cardstock to the awning and front panel for a bit of cheerful contrast.

Pro Tip: Textured cardstock is a great way to add interest and dimension without extra bulk or time-consuming techniques.

2. Softly Inked Backgrounds: To create that dreamy, soft-focus background, I used the Clouds and Grass Slimline Die Set. I cut both from white cardstock and then softly ink blended with Tumbled Glass and Shabby Shutters Distress Inks. The goal was to keep the background subtle so the food cart and pandas could really pop.

3. Strategic Use of Foam Tape: I love using foam tape to give my scenes a bit of life and movement. I popped up the food cart so it really takes center stage, and placed one panda behind it to make it look like he’s running the cart while the others are enjoying a little snack up front. Thinking about your characters and their “roles” in the scene helps everything feel more connected and intentional.

Pro Tip: Using different adhesive heights makes a huge difference in creating depth and guiding the eye across your card.

Coloring & Finishing Touches

I used OLO markers to color my pandas and food images, sticking with neutral tones for the pandas and soft pops of color for their little bowls and treats. It keeps the palette light and lets the scene shine without becoming too busy.

To finish it all off, I added white gel pen details and just a little sparkle with Stardust Stickles. A tiny bit goes a long way and catches the light beautifully without stealing attention from the focal point.

Pro Tip: When working with pastel or soft color schemes, go easy on the embellishments. A little sparkle or shine can highlight your details without overwhelming them.

Sentiment Placement that Feels Natural

The sentiment “Sending Panda Hugs” is stamped in Versafine Onyx Black Ink and trimmed into a strip that fits perfectly along the top of the cart. It feels like a hanging sign and adds to the charm of the whole design. I love when the sentiment becomes part of the scene instead of just an afterthought.

Final Thoughts

Scene cards don’t have to be complex to feel special. With just a few key die sets and a simple idea, you can build a beautiful, interactive-looking card that tells a story and brings a smile.
