Why I Love Using Fab Foilers:

One of the things I love most about crafting is how a little bit of foil can take a card from simple to spectacular. It’s like adding the perfect accessory to an outfit—everything just pops. WOW!'s Fab Foilers make this process so easy that it almost feels like cheating, but the results are anything but!

Whether you’re new to foiling or a seasoned pro, Fab Foilers offer a fuss-free way to get that professional finish without breaking a sweat. Plus, with designs like the Love & Hugs Fab Foilers, you’ve got an instant background that’s ready to shine.

Creating the Foiled Background

For this project, I started with one of the backgrounds from the Love & Hugs Fab Foilers. These pre-printed sheets are perfect for those days when you want something beautiful but don’t have the time (or patience) to stamp and emboss a whole background yourself.

I paired the background with WOW!'s Metal Marmalade Fab Foil and ran it through my laminator. A quick pro tip here: if you’re new to foiling, using a carrier sheet can help ensure even heat distribution and prevent any mishaps. The results are always worth that little extra step!

With the background foiled to perfection, I trimmed it down to 3 3/4" x 5" and matted it onto a piece of Pitch Black Cardstock cut at 4" x 5 1/4". This contrast really helps the foil pop and adds a sleek, polished look to the card.

Foiling the Sentiment

While I had my laminator out (and let’s be honest, once you start foiling, it’s hard to stop), I decided to foil one of the sentiment sheets from the Love & Hugs Fab Foilers with Peruvian Gold Fab Foil. The combination of the rich, warm gold with the deeper tones of the Metal Marmalade foil is simply stunning.

After foiling, I cut down the sentiment to fit my card design. To tie it into the rest of the card, I added a bit of Distress Ink in Abandoned Coral and Candied Apple to the edges. The subtle hint of color helps the sentiment stand out without overpowering the rest of the design.

Assembling the Card

Now for the fun part—putting it all together! With my foiled background and sentiment ready to go, I moved on to adding a focal point. I chose a beautiful floral die from Penny Black’s Finesse Creative Die and cut it from WOW!'s Superior Smooth White Cardstock.

I’m a huge fan of blending Distress Inks to add color, so I reached for my Bitty Bunny Blending Brushes and went to town. Abandoned Coral and Candied Apple were perfect for the flower, while Twisted Citron and Mowed Lawn brought the stems and leaves to life.

Once everything was colored, I adhered the die-cut floral to the card front, layering it over the foiled background. The combination of the soft ink-blended florals and the bold foiled background creates a lovely balance that’s both eye-catching and elegant.

Adding the Finishing Touches

No card of mine is complete without a little something extra. For this design, I added a double bow made from Burlap Twine to the base of the floral die cut. A quick pro tip: when working with twine, a little dab of glue on the knot will help keep everything in place, especially if your card is going through the mail.

To finish things off, I placed a Frosted Glass Bauble in the center of the bow. It adds just the right amount of texture and interest without distracting from the overall design.

I hope this project inspires you to try your hand at foiling if you haven’t already. The process is simple, the results are stunning, and it’s a fantastic way to add that “wow” factor to your cards.
