Last week, I created a lovely card featuring the Timeless Heart Border Edge and Pressed Bouquet Press Plate. After finishing that project, I was left with some beautiful foil pieces that I couldn't bear to throw away. Today, I'm going to show you how I transformed those leftovers into a stunning new card. This technique is not only budget-friendly but also adds a sophisticated touch to your cards.

Reverse Hot Foiling with Better Press Plates:

Gathering Your Supplies

Before we get started, make sure you have the following supplies:

Making the Most of Leftover Foil

One of my favorite things about crafting is finding creative ways to use every scrap. After creating the Timeless Heart Border Edge Card, I had a piece of leftover hot foil that was too pretty to discard. By using the Solid Rectangle Hot Foil Plate and my Glimmer Hot Foil Machine, I was able to transfer this foil onto a fresh piece of Hammermill Cardstock, creating a new, shimmering focal point for today’s card.

Crafting the Card

Creating the Focal Image

Using the leftover foil, I foiled a piece of smooth Hammermill Cardstock with the Solid Rectangle Hot Foil Plate. The result was a beautifully foiled piece that served as the perfect centerpiece for my card.

Adding Dimension and Detail

To add dimension, I matted the foiled piece with White Cardstock and used Instant Foam Dimension Tape to pop it up on the card front. For a touch of elegance, I incorporated some leftover vellum detailed die cuts from the Timeless Hearts Border Etched Dies. Placing these under the matted focal image created a delicate and intricate effect.

Pro Tip: Versatility of Die Cuts

Die cuts like the Timeless Hearts Border are incredibly versatile. I always make a few extras while crafting, knowing they can be used in future projects. They’re perfect for adding subtle details and layering effects.

Embellishing and Finishing Touches

To enhance the card further, I added AB Prism Gems to the detailed die cuts. These gems catch the light beautifully, adding just the right amount of sparkle.

Creating the Sentiment

For the sentiment, I used the Always You Timeless Sentiments Press Plates with the BetterPress System. Letter pressing “Happy Birthday to you” onto a piece of Cotton Cardstock gave the sentiment a crisp, professional look.

Assembling the Card

Finally, I assembled the card on a base made from Island Blue Cardstock, cut to 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" and scored at 4 1/4" to create an A2 size card base. I popped the reversed foiled focal panel onto the card front with some Instant Foam Dimension Tape, ensuring it stood out beautifully.
