Materials You'll Need:
Color Layering Waves Stamp Set
Color Layering Sea & Sky Stamp Set
Coordinating dies for both sets
White cardstock (Both Thick & Stamping Weight)
Ink pads in various shades of blue, greens, and a black
A die-cutting machine
Adhesive
Acetate or clear plastic sheet (for the lattice window)
Scissors or Paper Trimmer
Optional: sequins, glitter, or other embellishments for added sparkle
Stamping and Fussy-Cutting Waves
Begin by selecting your favorite shades of blue and green ink pads. Stamp the first set waves from the Color Layering Waves Stamp Set onto white cardstock using your lightest color of ink. Then you are going to stamp the other layers in slightly darker shades of colors to create depth and dimension. Don't worry about precision here – we want to capture the natural, organic feel of ocean waves. But the images line up pretty easy.
Once your waves are dry, use your paper snips to cut them out. It's not that hard your just cutting out a few little lines.
Creating the Lattice Card Base
For the lattice background, you'll need to cut your 4 1/4" x 11" card base and cut off 3" from one end. This will leave you 2 1/2" from the scored line at the top. Take an additional piece of Thick White Cardstock and cut ten strips that measure 1/2" x 4 1/4". Take the folded card base and flip it over. Take on of your 1/2" strips and attach to the left and right side of the card base on the inside about 1/4" to a 1/2" from the outside edge. (You can add a piece of clear plastic or acetate cut the same size as the card front (4 1/4" x 5 1/2" to the inside for stability.)
Take the remaining strips and attach them to these two strips (starting at the bottom going vertically) Make sure it lines up at the bottom of the card base. You are only adding adhesive to the two strips that are coming down from the top of the card. Repeat adding strips until you get to the top making sure to leave a 1/2" between each strips. Flip over and layer the remaining strips to the inside covering the strips on the front. This will serve as the lattice window through which you'll view the ocean waves.
Stamping the Ocean Scene
Time to bring the beach to life! Use the Color Layering Sea & Sky Stamp Set to create an inviting beach scene on the card base. Stamp the sand, the shoreline, and the sky using various shades of ink. Remember to layer the stamps to achieve a realistic and beautiful scene.
Add a little soft blue ink with a blending brush to the top of the card panel to represent the sky color. Stamp the clouds from the stamp set in a darker color blue. Add your sentiment and some birds stamped in a dark black or even a darker blue color to this section.
Assembling Your Card
Carefully adhere the beach scene you've created at the bottom of the card base. Then add a few additional silhouette stamped images in the darker ink to the scene. Feel free to add dimension by layering some of the waves with foam adhesive.
Final Touches
To add a touch of sparkle and depth to your beach scene, consider embellishing it with sequins, glitter, or other decorations of your choice. These little details can really make your card pop!
