Sneak Peek Snow Day Stamp Set: C. C. Designs December Release

Updated: Dec 6

Hello, friends! I’m thrilled to share a very special project with you today. Not only am I giving you a sneak peek at the Snow Day Stamp Set from C. C. Designs’ December Release, but this card also marks my first project as a member of the C. C. Designs Design Team! It’s such an honor to join this creative community, and I couldn’t think of a better way to kick things off than with a cozy winter scene.

There’s something magical about watching snow fall from the warmth of your home, isn’t there? This card captures that serene moment with a little boy sitting by his window, dressed in his winter best, watching snowflakes dance outside.

Sneak Peek Snow Day Stamp Set:

Creating a Snowy Scene with a Touch of Whimsy

When I first saw the Snow Day Stamp Set, I knew I had to create a card that felt as cozy as a cup of hot cocoa. The little boy image, paired with the bird on a snowy tree branch, was the perfect focal point. I stamped the image in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink onto Hammermill Smooth Cardstock. This combination is a go-to for me when I plan to color with alcohol markers because it delivers crisp lines and prevents smudging.

For this card, I reached for my Ohuhu Honolulu Brush Markers. These markers are an affordable alternative to pricier brands but don’t skimp on quality. They blend beautifully and offer a wide range of colors. If you’re new to alcohol markers, Ohuhu’s brush tips make it easy to achieve smooth gradients and add depth to your images.

Pro Tip: When coloring snowy elements like the branch or the boy’s winter hat, don’t be afraid to leave some areas white or use a light gray marker to create soft shadows. This keeps the snow looking fluffy and realistic.

Bringing the Card to Life with Layers

Once my image was colored and fussy cut, it was time to build the scene. I love layering patterned paper to add texture and interest, so I chose a piece from the Nutcracker Pattern Paper Pad (Scrapbook.com) with tiny white dots that mimic falling snow. This paper became the perfect backdrop, adding a subtle, wintry charm without overpowering the focal image.

To enhance the snowy feel, I die cut three snowflakes from White Shimmer Cardstock using the Mini Snowflake Decorative Dies. These delicate snowflakes not only added texture but also brought a touch of sparkle to the card.

Pro Tip: Shimmer cardstock is a great way to add subtle elegance to your cards without the mess of loose glitter.

Adding Dimension and Finishing Touches

One of my favorite ways to make a card stand out is by adding dimension. I used foam adhesive to attach the little boy image, and the sentiment. This simple step gives the card a layered look and helps the focal points pop off the background.

To finish the card, I couldn’t resist adding a little extra sparkle. Stardust Stickles brought a frosty glow to the snow on the window and tree branch, while Clear Twinkle Rhinestones added just the right amount of shimmer to the die-cut snowflakes and around the sentiment. Finally, a few highlights with a white gel pen gave the colored image extra dimension and polish.

Why Dimension Matters in Card Design

Flat cards have their place, but when you want to create a truly immersive scene, dimension is key. Layers of patterned paper, foam adhesive, and die-cut elements work together to draw the eye and create a sense of depth. For this card, each layer added to the story—the snowflakes felt like they were floating in the air, and the little boy truly seemed to be nestled behind his window.

If you’ve ever struggled with your cards feeling “flat,” try experimenting with foam adhesive and layering different textures. You’ll be amazed at the difference it makes!

Final Thoughts

I hope this card inspires you to embrace the magic of snowy days, even if you live somewhere that doesn’t get much snow (like I do here in Alabama!). Whether you’re new to C. C. Designs or a longtime fan, the Snow Day Stamp Set is sure to bring warmth and whimsy to your winter cardmaking projects.

Stay tuned for more inspiration from this amazing December release. I can’t wait to share more projects with you as part of the C. C. Designs Design Team. Until next time, happy crafting!
