Tell Your Dog I Said Hi Card: Snoot Boops | Miss Ink Stamps

Writer's picture: Rick AdkinsRick Adkins

If you’re anything like me, you can’t resist a good dog-themed stamp set. There’s just something about those cute little noses and wagging tails that make for the most heartwarming cards. Today’s project is all about celebrating our four-legged friends with a card that’s playful, textured, and full of personality.

I had so much fun creating this design using the Snoot Boops Stamp Set, Snoot Boops Die Set, Lucky Dog Stencil, and Dog’s Life Dies from Miss Ink Stamps. This card is all about layering, texture, and dimension—perfect for adding a little extra charm to your next project. And, of course, I couldn’t resist adding a bit of sparkle because even a dog-themed card deserves a touch of shine.

Tell Your Dog I Said Hi Card:

Bringing the Design to Life

When I started planning this card, I knew I wanted to highlight the adorable dog noses from the Snoot Boops Stamp Set in a way that made them the star of the show. I decided to die cut three circles from different shades of brown cardstock and stamp a variety of noses using Licorice, Espresso, and Gathered Twigs Inks. These inks give a soft, natural look that works beautifully with the neutral color palette.

To make the noses really pop, I used the coordinating dies from the Snoot Boops Die Set and added foam tape behind each piece. A little bit of dimension goes a long way in making a design feel polished and professional.

Pro Tip: When working with small die-cut elements like these, using a fine-tip applicator for liquid adhesive can be a game-changer. It gives you more control and prevents glue from seeping out the edges.

Adding Texture with Ink Blending

A great background can really bring a card together, and for this design, I wanted something subtle yet dynamic. I started with a piece of khaki cardstock and used the Lucky Dog Stencil with Espresso Ink to create a soft, paw-prints, bones, & heart pattern. This simple step adds just the right amount of detail without overwhelming the focal elements.

Once the ink was dry, I matted the panel onto a piece of dark brown cardstock and adhered it to an A2 card base. This extra layering not only frames the design but also gives it a polished, finished look.

Pro Tip: If you find your ink blending looks uneven, try using a circular motion with a light hand and gradually build up the color. Sometimes, just letting the ink settle for a few minutes can make a huge difference in the final result.

Finishing Touches That Make an Impact

No card is complete without a sentiment, and the phrase "Tell Your Dog I Said Hi" from the Snoot Boops Stamp Set was too perfect to pass up. I stamped it onto a khaki cardstock scrap using Versafine Onyx Black Ink, then cut one end into a fishtail banner before adhering it with foam tape for a little extra dimension.

To balance out the design, I added a few die-cut hearts from the Dog’s Life Die Set, cut from red cardstock. These tiny details help tie everything together and add a pop of color to the neutral palette.

Pro Tip: When working with embellishments, try clustering them in groups of three—it creates a more natural, balanced look.

Of course, I couldn’t resist adding some white gel pen highlights to the noses and hearts for a bit of extra detail. And because I love a little sparkle, I finished everything off with a touch of Stardust Stickles on the hearts and noses. It’s subtle but adds just the right amount of shine

Final Thoughts

This card was such a joy to make, and I love how the different elements—stamping, die-cutting, ink blending, and embellishing—came together to create something unique. The Snoot Boops Stamp Set is one of those sets that’s perfect for playful, pet-themed cards, and the added layers and textures make it even more fun to create with.

If you give this card design a try, I’d love to see your take on it! Would you use different colors or switch up the sentiment? Let me know in the comments or tag me on social media so I can check out your creations.

And if you’re a fellow dog lover, give your pup an extra snoot boop from me!
