Three Easy Spring/Easter Card Ideas: Paper Rose Studio

Writer: Rick AdkinsRick Adkins

Spring is in the air, and that means it's time to start thinking about fresh, cheerful designs for Easter or Spring cards! If you love working with patterned paper as much as I do, then you’re going to love today’s projects. I’m sharing three easy card designs featuring the Easter Memories 6 x 6 Pattern Paper Collection and Easter Memories Embossed Die Cuts from Paper Rose Studio. These cards are all about effortless layering, making it simple to create beautiful handmade cards in no time. Whether you’re looking for a quick weekend project or hoping to make multiple cards in one sitting, these ideas are perfect for you.

Three Easy Spring/Easter Card Ideas:

Layered Elegance with Birds and Florals

There’s something timeless about a soft floral print paired with delicate birds, and the Easter Memories collection captures that beautifully. For this design, I let the patterned paper do most of the work by layering coordinating prints over a solid cardstock base.

Birds on a branch, teal egg, and "Spring Blessings" text on a card with floral designs. Set against a vase in the background.

I love using foam adhesive to add dimension between layers—just a little lift can make a huge difference in how a card feels. The sentiment is a simple die-cut phrase from the Easter Memories Embossed Die Cuts, matted on a small piece of vellum to soften the transition between the layers. If you ever find a sentiment getting lost in a busy background, this is a great trick to help it stand out.

Pro Tip: When layering multiple patterns, choose a mix of large-scale and small-scale prints to create contrast. A floral background pairs beautifully with a subtle geometric or tone-on-tone pattern for balance.

Stacked Easter Egg Design with a Shimmer Accent

Easter wouldn’t be complete without colorful eggs, and this design plays up that theme with a fun stacked layout. I started by cutting strips of the same patterned papers and layering them across the card front. This is a great way to use up scraps while keeping the design cohesive.

The focal point of this card is a die-cut Easter basket filled with eggs, nestled onto a stitched circle die. Using a circle element here helps break up the straight lines of the paper strips and gives the eye a place to rest. To add just a touch of sparkle, I used shimmer cardstock for the stitched circle die cut—because who doesn’t love a little shine on an Easter card?

Pro Tip: If you’re unsure how to mix different patterned papers, try pulling colors from one of the bolder prints and using those as your base. This ensures everything looks coordinated without feeling overwhelming.

Patchwork Bunny Design for a Unique Layout

This last card might be my favorite of the three because it has such a cozy, quilted look. I took various pieces of the Easter Memories patterned paper and arranged them like a patchwork background, using small squares and rectangles to create a woven effect. This technique is a great way to showcase multiple designs without them competing for attention.

The star of this card is a sweet die-cut bunny, popped up on foam adhesive for a little extra dimension. I love how the soft pastels of the background create a warm and inviting feel. A small bow tied with twine adds just the right finishing touch.

Pro Tip: If you ever feel stuck when arranging patterned paper, try laying out your pieces without adhesive first. Move them around until you find a balance that feels right before committing with glue.

Final Thoughts

Each of these designs showcases how simple layering and a few well-placed embellishments can make a big impact. If you’re looking for a quick and easy way to create beautiful Easter cards, this collection from Paper Rose Studio is a great place to start. Plus, since the papers and die cuts are already coordinated, there’s no guesswork involved—just mix, match, and have fun!
