Hello, crafty friends! As we dive into fall, I’m all about those cozy autumn vibes—especially when it comes to cardmaking. Today, I have two fun and vibrant fall floral cards to share with you, both featuring the Autumn Vibes Bundle from Brutus Monroe. If you're looking to bring warm, rich fall colors into your card designs, this bundle is perfect. It includes stamps, dies, and stencils that work beautifully together to help you create layered, detailed cards with ease.
I used the same set of stamps and dies for both cards but achieved two completely different looks by playing around with color combinations and backgrounds. One of the things I love most about fall cards is how versatile the palette can be—there are so many shades and textures to explore!
Two Fall Floral Cards:
Card 1: Dusty Purples and Golden Yellows for a Warm Fall Feel
For the first card, I wanted to create a soft, cozy feel using muted purples and golden tones. I started by stamping the floral arrangement in the pumpkin twice onto Hammermill Smooth Cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. I also stamped extra flowers, leaves, wheat, and greenery from the set, knowing I’d want some additional layers for dimension.
When it came time to color, I reached for my Ohuhu Oahu Markers. Fall is one of my favorite seasons for color inspiration—there’s just something about the changing leaves and late-blooming flowers that always gets me excited to experiment. For the large mum, I went with a dusty purple to bring in a slightly unexpected autumn tone. I kept the smaller mums golden yellow and bright orange, which contrasted beautifully with the deep colors of the pumpkin. The wheat stalks were colored in two light brown combinations, and I used an olive green for the greenery.
I always find that varying shades of fall leaves—golden yellows, burnt oranges, deep reds, and browns—really add richness to a design, and that’s what I went for here. One Pro Tip I’ll share is that layering different shades of a single color (like varying your yellows) gives your card a more dynamic look. You’re essentially creating depth and movement without needing to add too much else.
Ink Blending for the Background
I wanted the background to have a subtle yet warm feel, so I pulled out the stencil from the Autumn Vibes Bundle and ink blended a panel using Distress Oxide Inks. I started with Antique Linen to give the background an overall light and soft look. Then, I blended Frayed Burlap and Vintage Photo into the center for a bit more depth. These shades really evoke that cozy, warm autumn light you get during late afternoons in the fall.
After blending the background, I adhered the panel to a top-folding A2 card base made from Neenah Ultra Thick Cardstock. Then, I added foam squares to the back of the pumpkin and floral arrangement to give the card some dimension and centered it on the card front. Tucking in the extra fall-colored leaves around the edges made everything feel fuller and gave that signature layered look that’s perfect for fall cards.
For the sentiment, I stamped “I’m So Very Grateful” using Versafine Onyx Black Ink on a scrap piece of Hammermill cardstock. Here’s a fun trick: I used the matching die from the bundle to cut it out, then stacked four more blank die cuts underneath to give the sentiment more dimension. It almost looks like a chipboard piece, and it’s such an easy way to add extra interest to a card.
Card 2: Bold Fall Colors on a Soft Lilac Background
The second card has a bit more contrast, thanks to the bold colors in the floral arrangement paired with a soft lilac background. I always like to mix things up a little to show how versatile the same set of products can be, and this card really highlights that.
For the background, I started with the Background Basics Stencil Set and used the large circle stencil to create a soft focal point. I ink blended Shaded Lilac Distress Oxide Ink over the circle, which provided a nice base for layering. Once that was done, I placed the stencil from the Autumn Vibes Bundle over the top and lightly blended the same Shaded Lilac ink. This created a soft, layered look that made the perfect backdrop for the florals.
For the pumpkin and floral arrangement, I decided to use bolder colors. I went with a darker orange for the pumpkin and deep red for the large mums. The smaller mums were colored in golden yellow, while the small flowers got a pop of purple to tie in with the background. I also used the same olive green and brown combinations for the greenery and leaves, giving everything a rich, autumnal feel.
To add more dimension to the arrangement, I popped up an extra red mum over one of the flowers in the original stamped image. The layering effect really brings the florals to life! Another Pro Tip: Don’t be afraid to layer additional flowers or elements on top of your original arrangement. It gives the card a bit of 3D interest, and it’s a great way to use up extra stamped images.
Finishing Touches
For both cards, I used my Uni-ball Signo White Gel Pen to add highlights to the florals and pumpkins, which helped the colors pop even more. A few touches of gold with my Gold Uni-ball Signo Gel Pen added a bit of shimmer without overwhelming the design.
One final detail for the second card was adding gold lines around the card front with the same gold gel pen. This is such a simple technique, but it gives the card an elegant, framed look. It’s one of my go-to tricks when I want to elevate a design just a little bit more.
