Materials Used:

Before we jump into the project, let's gather our materials. For this underwater scene card, you'll need:

Setting the Scene:

Picture this: you're strolling along the beach, feeling the salty breeze and hearing the gentle crash of waves against the shore. That's the vibe we're going for with this underwater scene card.

To start, I ink blended the background with my CottonTail Blending Brushes with four different shades of blue Distress Oxide Inks. I wanted to create depth and dimension, so I used darker shades towards the bottom and lighter shades towards the top to mimic the natural gradient of the ocean.

Adding Movement:

Now, let's add some movement to our underwater world! I reached for The Rabbit Hole Designs' Splish Splash 6 x 6 Stencil to create the illusion of water in motion. By blending ink over the stencil, we can achieve a dynamic background that really brings our scene to life.

Bringing it to Life:

With the background set, it's time to bring our scene to life with the Salty Air Stamp Set. I love using watercolor pencils for coloring because they give me the control to achieve that soft, watercolor look. Plus, they're super easy to blend!

As I colored in the images of seashells, fish, and seaweed, I couldn't help but reminisce about my own adventures snorkeling in the crystal-clear waters of the Caribbean. There's something magical about exploring the depths and discovering hidden treasures beneath the waves.

Creating Texture:

No underwater scene would be complete without some sandy shores! I cut out two layers of sand mounds from white cardstock and ink blended them using my CottonTail Blending Brushes with three different shades of brown Distress Oxide Inks. By popping up the smallest mound with dimensional foam adhesive, we can add depth and dimension to our card.
