Supplies List

Before we dive in, here's what you'll need:

Choosing the Pattern Paper

Let's start by selecting the pattern paper from the Lots of Love 6 x 6 Pattern Paper Pad. I often find that the right pattern paper can set the whole tone for my card. For this project, I chose a vibrant sheet with a playful design to match the whimsical feel of the Date Night Stamp Set. The colors in the pattern paper—pinks, blues, and yellows—guided my choice of markers, creating a cohesive and eye-catching palette.

Creating the Frame

Next, we'll create a frame using the Love to Layer Deckled Edge Dies from Papertrey Ink. This die set is perfect for adding a touch of elegance and dimension to your cards. I cut a frame from the pattern paper, which adds an extra layer of interest and ties the whole design together. For a bit of added texture and depth, I popped the frame up on thin strips of foam tape. This technique is great for making your card elements stand out and gives a lovely 3D effect.

Stamping and Coloring

Now comes the fun part—stamping and coloring! I stamped the adorable popcorn box and drink holding hands, along with some extra popcorn images from the Date Night Stamp Set. Using my Spectrum Noir Triblend Brush Markers, I colored the images in hues that complement the pattern paper.

Pro Tip:

When coloring stamped images, start with the lightest shade and build up to the darkest. This helps create a smooth blend and adds depth to your images.

I remember the first time I used these markers; I was amazed at how easy it was to achieve professional-looking results. Don't be afraid to experiment with blending—the results are always worth it!

Die Cutting

With our images colored, it's time to use the Date Night Dies to cut them out. Die cutting is one of my favorite steps because it gives such a clean, polished finish to the elements. Plus, it saves so much time compared to fussy cutting!

Assembling the Card

Let's bring it all together. First, I attached the pattern paper background to the A2 top folding card base made from Sweet Pea Cardstock. Next, I adhered the deckled edge frame using Instant Dimension Foam Tape. This not only adds dimension but also ensures the frame is securely attached.

Then, I positioned the popcorn and drink image on the righthand side of the card, popping it up with foam tape for extra impact. To complete the look, I scattered the additional popcorn images around the card front, creating a fun and dynamic scene.

Final Touches

Always take a moment to ensure all elements are securely in place and the card has a balanced look. Sometimes I like to step back and admire the overall design before making any final tweaks.
