Hi everyone! It’s Rick back with you today; this is my project that I shared on WOW Embossing Powder’s Blog yesterday for my blog series called Craftsman's Corner with Rick. In that post we dove into the world of using WOW Embossing Powders with your BetterPress system. This is a great way to get that metallic and polished look we all know and love.
WOW Embossing Powders & The BetterPress
Did you know that you can use your WOW Embossing products to stretch our BetterPress supplies. To create a totally drop dead gorgeous look on your projects and it’s super simple and easy. By using your BetterPress plates as stamps to get a new look.

WOW Products with Better Press Step by Step:
The first thing you are going to do is ink up your press plates with WOW’s Ultra Slow Drying Embossing Ink Pad.
Next you’re going to place your chosen cardstock on top. I used watercolor paper today because I knew I wanted to do a little watercoloring with my images. And then run it through your die cutting machine with your BetterPress system.
Then you are going to flip your cardstock around without removing it from the system. Re-ink the press plate with the WOW’s Ultra Slow Drying Embossing Ink Pad. And run it through again. The Ultra Slow Drying Embossing Ink makes this super easy. Because the drying time is slower than normal embossing ink you have a little time to get the images ink up and ran through.
Now that you have your panel all inked up with the WOW’s Ultra Slow Drying Embossing Ink. It’s time to apply your WOW Embossing Powder of choice. I went with WOW’s Metallic Platinum Regular Embossing Powder for this. I applied my Platinum Embossing Powder as normal over the entire panel.
Once you have your panel covered and have replaced the extra powder back in the container it’s time to use your WOW! Dual Speed Heat Tool to heat set the embossing powder.
Once the heat embossing is nice and cooled. You’re going to replace your panel back into your press system and place in your sentiment plate. (Remember that you need to place the sentiment plate on the opposite side of where you think you want it otherwise it can be in reverse.) Ink up the sentiment plate with your WOW’s Ultra Slow Drying Embossing Ink and replace the plate cover and run through your die cutting machine.
Remove your panel and cover with WOW Primary Ebony Embossing Powder and heat set.
Once the powder is smooth and melted you can then watercolor the image as you would like.
Once your panel is all nice and colored. It’s time to cut the panel down to size.
Now you have two options here. You can use the WOW! Mixed Media Embossing Brush or your WOW’s Ultra Slow Drying Embossing Ink and go around the edge of your white cardstock mat layer cut just 1/8″ (0.3175 cm) larger than your focal panel. And cover the edges with the same embossing powder that you used for your focal images. And heat set the powder.
If you have spots that don’t cover very well; this is a great time to pull in your WOW! Embossing Pen and go over the areas that skipped and then reapply the embossing powder and heat set again.
Once you have your mat layer finished all you need to do is attach your focal panel and then add it to your card base.
And there you have it a super easy way to use your WOW Embossing Powder products to stretch your stash and use your press plates to get a fun new look that’s super easy.
